Who will you be working with?

As the Communications Director – P&L and Business Initiatives, you will be tasked with cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders, working closely with senior leadership, driving engagement, and effectively disseminating critical information across all levels of the organization. Your efforts will play a pivotal role in influencing key business outcomes.

How will you make a difference?

We are seeking a creative and experienced leader to drive our communications strategy and business initiatives. The Communications Director will provide strategic counsel, develop and execute communication tactics, and ensure alignment with business priorities and brand. This role also involves identifying growth opportunities, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and executing key business initiatives to achieve long-term goals.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's Degree in the areas of Communications, Journalism, English, Liberal Arts or other related field
  • 10+ years professional experience in Communications or related field (with at least 2 years focused on internal communications)
  • Ability to develop, drive, and execute communication strategies that align with the company’s goals
  • Flexibility and adaptability; willing to serve in multiple communication capacities based on environmental changes and organizational need
  • Proven experience in project management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in technology, transportation, or industrial sector
  • Experience in global, highly matrixed organizations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for various audiences (executive teams, employees, media, etc.)
    Deep understanding of internal and external communications, media relations, and brand management
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to work effectively with senior leadership
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects with the ability to influence outcomes and handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Ability to analyze communication impact through data and metrics and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to create streamlined processes, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of initiatives
  • Clear, big picture thinker, with the ability to see and drive change
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, influential communications
  • Ability to anticipate potential challenges and proactively develop solutions
  • Comfort in working in fast-paced, dynamic environments and adapting to change
  • Experience in working with external stakeholders such as media, agencies, or partners

Other: Ability to travel to site locations as needed (~10-20% of time)

What will your typical day look like?

  • Lead the development and implementation of business group communication strategies, ensuring alignment with the overarching Wabtec communications and business strategy.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to business leadership teams. This includes providing communications guidance and execution on complex, sensitive, and business critical issues.
  • Build and execute holistic, multi-channel communication campaigns for key stakeholders with the ability to tailor messages for various audiences (executive teams, employees, media, etc.).
  • Accelerate commercial growth and raise the brand profile of Wabtec via proactive PR, thought leadership, strategic speaking engagements, events, and social storytelling.
  • Serve as liaison for external media relations in conjunction with the corporate communications team.
  • Lead employee communications programs for organizations to drive business strategy and alignment, inspire employee engagement, and foster customer centricity.
  • Collaborate with regional and business group communications to build effective relationships in a matrixed environment; support diverse and dispersed stakeholders and initiatives.
  • Continuously experiment with tools and technologies to modernize content distribution through digital, mobile, broadcast, and online channels to capture and engage target audiences.
  • Drive qualitative and quantitative reporting metrics, analysis, and ROI to demonstrate success against desired and stated outcomes. 
  • Serve as member of communications management team; provide input into Corporate Communications strategy and help drive execution.
