East End Cooperative Ministry changes the lives of those facing the impacts of poverty. Whether offering meals and pantry items to those who are experiencing food insecurity, working alongside those without a safe place to live and recover and with barriers to obtaining employment, or reaching out to young people to help them work toward a brighter future, EECM is always here.
The Digital Literacy Instructor, through class instruction and one-on-one support, helps the Education and Employment Program participants develop the digital skills that will ensure they have equitable access to critical online information, whether they are preparing for a job, starting a business, or managing personal finances. The candidate and the E&E Coordinator will be instrumental in teaching the class structure and services that increase digital literacy skills.
Responsibilities:
- Teach and present interactive workshops and manage complementary drop-in computer lab hours.
- Monitor and promote online learning and administer the assessments/examinations that will lead to certification.
- Interface regularly with the public and support to Education and Employment program staff.
- Increase digital skills to enrolled participants, especially to access information and services online.
- Develop quality interactive training on basic and more advanced digital tools and software programs; create curriculum, deliver workshops, and gather feedback.
- Facilitate hands-on learning and address specific tech questions.
- Administer access to online digital skills platforms, such as Northstar assessment certification tests.
- Create handouts and user guides.
- Develop innovative ways to introduce the novice to computer basics, including keyboarding, email, and internet searching, so that they can create and store documents such as resumes and make online applications.
- Work with the program coordinator to build on existing training modules and share best practices.
- Be knowledgeable of and promote the use of online resources as useful tools and sources of information.
- Regularly evaluate the technology needs of those looking for work, conducting business, filling out forms and applications, doing research, or needing tech assistance to advance their financial well-being and create customer-focused responses to assist them and enhance their digital literacy.
