Description

The Underwriter will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating renewal and new marina, boat dealer, boat builder, and boat club accounts in accordance with established underwriting guidelines. Lines of business include Marine, General Liability, Property, Automobile, Worker’s Compensation and Bumbershoot. The candidate will be responsible for conducting renewal review and development of new business for the territory assigned. The candidate must be able to work effectively and collaborate with numerous internal stakeholders from underwriters, claims and loss control personnel to Processing. The position may require periodic travel.



Qualifications

The above position requires a strong service orientation to facilitate positive relationships with brokers and the various other stakeholders that are involved in renewing and writing new business. The potential candidate should have solid knowledge of commercial underwriting and marine insurance industry practices. He/she should also demonstrate technical expertise in Property and Casualty lines of business as well as Marine. In addition, the individual should possess the following skills/qualities:

Competencies/Technical Skills

  • 2+ years underwriting US marine, property, package, automobile, worker’s compensation and bumbershoot.
  • Demonstrated technical acumen in Property and Casualty lines of business.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to think creatively.
  • Proven time and desk management skills
  • Strong (verbal and written) communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, while demonstrating strong collaboration skills in a team environment
  • Solid organizational and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • The ideal candidate will have minimum of 1-2 years underwriting US property, package, automobile, worker’s compensation and umbrella.
