Leads the development and execution of an integrated communications/public relations strategy to leverage the voice of the CEO internally and externally to drive the mission, vision, and strategy of WellSpan Health. This vice president applies their advanced communications and public relations expertise and prior executive communications experience to drive organizational results, build team member alignment and engagement, and position WellSpan as a leader in the region and nation. This position collaborates closely with the Marketing and Communications team and colleagues across the organization in the research, development and production of internal and external executive communications and reports to WellSpan Executive Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer. The vice president models and fosters an integrated, collaborative, data-driven culture that is known for high reliability and excellence in execution in a fast-paced environment.
ResponsibilitiesDuties and Responsibilities
- Develops message platforms and annual communications plans for the CEO aligned with WellSpanβs strategic plan and brand.
- Strategically positions the voice of the CEO to clarify priorities, build culture and promote differentiation of the health system.
- Provides overall management of the CEOβs strategic speaking activities, internally and externally, in consultation with the Chief Strategy Officer, including tracking incoming requests, assessing and recommending opportunities, conducting background research on events, and ensuring that materials are delivered in a timely manner.
- Serves as point of contact in Office of the CEO for communication deliverables.
- Manages review/revision/approval processes to ensure achievement of communications and business goals.
- Tracks and evaluates outcomes of executive communications for continuous improvement.
- Manages/maintains communications content using established standard work (e.g., review cycles, sunsetting/archiving processes).
- Evaluates and implements new communication tools to supplement or replace traditional approaches to internal and external stakeholder engagement.
- Monitors internal activities, national media, industry news and other sources for trends, statistics and ideas to develop content for CEO communications.
- Ideates and recommends themes and opportunities for CEO engagements and communications via CEO editorial calendar.
- Manages the social media presence of the CEO.
- Writes, produces and coordinates clear and compelling speeches, blogs, lectures, interviews, op-eds, talking points, correspondence, electronic newsletters, internal reports, PowerPoint presentations and other collateral.
- Possesses extremely strong PowerPoint skills to effectively convey content both visually and verbally.
- Demonstrates strong ability to capture the voice of the CEO.
- Anticipates and builds contingency processes and plan.
- Works closely with colleagues across the organization (communications, marketing, strategy, subject matter experts, etc.) as well as outside consultants to develop and execute CEO messages and materials.

Minimum Education:
- Bachelors Degree Required
Work Experience:
- 10+ years 10-15 years professional experience in a relevant field, including C-Suite communications experience Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Min Field of Expertise: Public Relations, Communications, Healthcare, or similar field, preferably with experience in a large, complex healthcare organization
- Demonstrated ability to inspire trust and confidence from executive leadership, and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
- Deep experience writing speeches for varied audiences and occasions, including board meetings, staff meetings, and external conferences
- Keen ability to distill complicated, technical messages into digestible language
- Strong leadership, problem solving, critical thinking, active listening skills
- Exceptional business writing, editing, storytelling, fact-checking and proofreading skills to deliver a message that is accurate, clear and compelling
